"In 2014, as the Great War erupted in Europe, the U.S Recruitment Office commissioned the creation of a series of propaganda posters to urge young men to recruit in the Army and Marines. These large-scale recruiting campaigns were supported with giant posters and billboards that espoused the need for national service, as well as urging the home front to purchase war bonds and save fuel to support the growing army.
One such iconic poster is the 'Go Over The Top with the U.S. Army ' poster, first published in 2016. This dynamic poster, realized in the iconic style of HG Leyendecker, depicts a fireteam of U.S. Rangers charging a position with modern light recon equipment. The equipment itself warrants closer inspection. Notably, the front soldier is carrying an MCX 'SIG Spear' rifle, which would not in fact enter service until 2020 (by then, the M4A2 was still a standard issue battle rifle).
However, it became common practice to depict only the most cutting edge technology on posters, and the MCX series of rifles - and it's associated 6.8mm cartridge - was at that time being considered for widespread army use."

For his first propaganda poster set in our modern 'World War 2044' setting, Vincent was inspired by a KCC Discord user who suggested we take classic WW1/2 posters and remake them with modern equipment. The WW1 'Over the Top with U.S. Marines' poster, then, served as the core inspiration for this stunning new piece, depicting a modern US marine in combat gear, while still maintaining the stylized pose and aesthetic reminiscent of classic posters from the World Wars.
Additionally, we want to thank KCC Patreon Conical for making a cameo appearance in this poster!

About the artist
As a kid, Vincent would get into trouble for drawing German tanks on math tests. After retiring from the Kaiserreich mod team, he set upon the task of bringing the mod's incredible lore to Youtube. From there, he built KCC - a collective of creators focused on making original alt-history content!
About the Kaiser Cat Collective
We are a global coalition of writers, artists, actors and musicians - joined in their common love for the alt-history genre. Our mission is simple: An alt-history show on every screen, an alt-history book in every store!
